At the request of Bryce Clayton Eiman, Remora prepared a piece for the Guitar Antiheroes 919 Noise Showcase on May 12, 2009. The showcase had performers pushing the idea of how to approach the guitar as an instrument. For Remora’s performance to push the sound to the next level from a standard Remora show (which is already often filled with guitar noise), Brian John Mitchell (Remora) boosted the sound to the next level by using five guitars, a bass, & four amplifiers instead of the standard single guitar & amp. The additional guitars were staged around the main amplifier to act as drone instruments. Probably the loudest Remora show ever (reports are it was heard clearly a block away) & often on the cusp of losing control of the wave of sound, the piece ended with Mitchell nearly throwing up from the volume exposure. Still the music somehow ends up as soothing as it is menacing.

Reviews:
Possibly the best out of the whole archive, this is Silber head honcho Brian John Mitchell at his most experimental blistering best.  A slab of vicious shoegaze-tinted guitar noise, completely improvised using five guitars, a bass guitars and four amplifiers.

This 25 minute freebie by Remora aka Brian John Mitchell consists of a single piece recorded live in May 2009. For this performance, four guitars and a bass were amped up and placed around the stage to pick up vibrations from the main guitar / effects / amp set up that Mitchell was using. The result is a background of harsh drone and feedback, with frequencies sometimes hitting seriously uncomfortable squeal. Rather than thrash about on his instrument, Mitchell plays it softly, almost absent-mindedly, teasing small plucked melodies and gentle strums out of it, and letting the power of electricity and vibration do the rest. The result is something that is both fiercely loud, but also quite serene. Obviously, the recording struggles to reproduce the effect that this piece had live, especially if played at a sane volume. Even so, it’s an interesting work, and certainly makes me want to experience Remora live. Barry Esson, get on the case for Instal 10!

If you're not going to download this based on that quote alone, you're not my friend any more. Massive, hypnotic noise, pretagged as "guitar terrorism" and I can't say I disagree. Brian is also the head honcho at Silber, so evidently this label is in good hands.
