Hey Kidz, Welcome to QRD #71! This time out I have a dozen interviews with label owners following up the interviews they did a few years ago. In the next couple of months we’ll probably get a few more responses. I hope these interviews aren’t just of interest to label owners, but general music fans & even those just casually interested in the changing nature of the music industry. Like everyone I’m not sure what the future holds for musicians & record labels & artists in general. But I’m hopeful. I think people are starting to put more value on art in general. The overload of the internet seems to have finally hit & people are caring more about supporting the work they like & realizing the ramifications of not supporting it. Even I admit that I haven’t always done my part, but these days I’m really trying. You may have noticed that lately QRD always has an ad running for a Kickstarter. A couple months ago it was for Joe Badon to do his graphic novel Terra Kaiju & not only did I give him financial support, I’m helping him put together a soundtrack for the comic that added value to the whole project. I really see that as the mission I’ve been on with Silber & all its facets from the beginning -- figuring out how to help other artists to do better work. That’s part of the whole reason I do interviews. The interviews give people a chance to reflect & learn from each other. Because I know that even with the volume of community I’ve created, I often feel isolated & alone & toiling while working on projects. Interviews make me realize the blessing I have to be born in an era when I can do the work I do as well as sparking new ideas & helping me to realize where I am wasting time & energy to make my work more efficient & hopefully others have the same experience. In my personal news, I just moved to a small town & will have more physical space to work in. So we’ll see if it helps me get more organized & get more work done. Thank you all for your interest & support & spread the word about your favorite interview this issue if you can. Hrt Brian John Mitchell
