Aarktica - Bleeding Light
CD Album 2005 | Darla
8 tracks, 46 minutes
$12
Aarktica's Bleeding Light is an intimate epic which takes raw feelings and lets the music flow naturally from them. It's a genuinely exciting album, one that matches emotion with experimentation in powerful ways.
~ Erasing Clouds

Supported by an ensemble of horns, strings and percussion, Bleeding Light is it’s own distinct hybrid of dark, dissonant free jazz, electro-acoustic drone pop, and shoegaze glimmer, all largely centered around North Indian raga structures.

Aarktica: Live at KUCI Aarktica
Live at KUCI 6/15/05
MP3 EP 2009 | Silber 083
5 tracks, 31 minutes
download zip file | Archive.org page

After the release of Bleeding Light, Aarktica did a short West Coast tour with most of the full live band. During this trip the band was invited to perform live on the air at KUCI in Irvine, CA. These tracks, recorded live, capture the rawness, tension & dynamics of Bleeding Light-era Aarktica & represent the only live shows done outside of New York City for this album. A very different animal than the on-record Aarktica most know, the live shows of this era featured the virtuosity of free jazz greats Mike Pride & James Duncan on drums & trumpet, respectively Just listen to the drum breaks toward the end of “A Shadow Knife,” & the trumpet solos on “OJ Gude.”

Aarktica - Matchless Years
CD Album 2007 | Darla
10 tracks, 46 minutes
$12
Aarktica have blended their influences with their own sounds and have made a very original and accessible, yet artful, record of dark and melancholic indie-rock. Not the dark associated with goth, but more like dense cloud matter dark where the sun is almost shining through. Any way though, the aesthetic and atmospheric indie-rock on Matchless Years is a perfect companion for those days in your life when you need a glimmer of hope amid the despair.
~ Matt the Raven, Delusions of Adequacy

Aarktica - No Solace in Sleep
CD Album 2000 | Silber 012
8 tracks, 64 minutes
$12 ($14 international, $5 download (256 kbps, ~113 megs))
Think of this CD as the aural score for the aurora borealis, each note a shimmer display of color; the tones as waves of light...Simply captivating.
~ Mass Transfer

Debut album of Jon DeRosa’s ambient guitar drone project Aarktica. A continuation of the sounds started by Ligetti and followed through by Glenn Branca, Robert Fripp, Brian Eno, Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, Lycia, lovesliescrushing, & Flying Saucer Attack. Still one of our best sellers years later.

Aarktica - ...or you could just go through your whole life and be happy anyway (Bliss Out v. 18)
CD Album 2002 | Darla 121
7 tracks, 41 minutes
$12
The release of this caused a bit of a ruckus as Aarktica left the soundscape territory & performed a few "songs."  Another great release from one of our favorite bands.

Aarktica - Pure Tone Audiometry
CD Album 2003 | Silber 026
7 tracks, 45 minutes
$12 ($14 international, $5 download (256 kbps, ~79 megs))
Aarktica's songs are extended reveries, built on loops of guitars and drums and occasional voices. The musical elements hover and circle, float by or bristle with distortion as the songs drift through serenity and trouble.
~ Jon Pareles, New York Times

Pure Tone Audiometry is Aarktica's most involved work yet, approaching the balance between "drone" and "song." Although the overall tone is consistent and dreamlike, the content within is as varied as DeRosa's personality, combining gentle lullabies with jagged atonalism, string trios with white noise guitars, and feverish percussion overtop sedate drones.

Jamie Barnes - The Fallen Acrobat
CD Album 2003 | Silber 029
12 tracks, 41 minutes
$12 ($14 international, $5 download (256kbps, ~76 megs))
The title track is sickeningly sweet but with a morbid edge, as the narrator falls for a girl like an acrobat who plummets from the wire. Barnes sings about her picking up his limbs and putting them back in their sockets before the vultures come and it's still the sweetest song about love I've heard this year.
~ Rob Devlin, Brainwashed

The Fallen Acrobat is the debut album by Louisville singer-songwriter Jamie Barnes. Fleshed out bedroom pop songs about the anxieties of growing up and the nostalgia of youth.

$12 ($14 international, $5 download (256kbps, ~80 megs))
Jamie comes through with something that surpasses Rufus Wainwright, Hayden, and even the ultra-overrated Elliot Smith; Honey From the Ribcage is the indie-rock album to pick up this year.
~ James McQuiston, Altar Magazine

Honey from the Ribcage is bedroom-pop-americana more orchestrated & fully realized for Jamie's second album.

Jamie Barnes - The Recalibrated Heart
CD Album 2006 l Pink Bullet 001
10 tracks, 44 minutes
$12
Jamie Barnes' music is incredibly delicate, with a tenderness and ripe vulnerability that tears at your heart. His world is one of cautious hope and unbending faith, a landscape of barely hidden dangers tempered by the promise of better days. There's also an undeniable sadness balanced by a spiritual strength more suggested than splashed across a billboard -- it's inherent, built to last but never taken for granted.
~ Jeffrey Lee Puckett, The Courier-Journal

On his third album Jamie continues to crank out his own special brand of heartbreaking americana.

Black Happy Day: In the Garden of Ghostflowers Black Happy Day - In the Garden of Ghostflowers
CD Album 2006 | Silber 053

burMonter - fell
CD Album 1996 | Eilythyia 002
8 tracks, 27 minutes
$8
burMonter was a top of the line bliss-pop band from North Carolina who’s name you’d probably know if they’d been based in Boston or New York, but that’s how things work out.  Think along the lines of Lush, Cure, Curve, & Cranes & you’re on the right track. Members of this band went on to form The Pulling Kiss, Goddakk, Plumerai, & Remora.

Carta: An Index of Birds Carta - An Index of Birds
CD 2010 | Silber 077
13 tracks, 58 minutes
$12 ($14 international, $5 download (256 kbps, ~119 megs))
This is truly an album to cherish during those quiet moments when you need to relax after a troubling day, or just want to stare at the sunset or walk through the snowfall & reminisce about the times of your life when everything was alright with the world....
~ Jeff Penczak, Foxy Digitalis

A welcome new addition to the Silber family.  Carta reminds us of a ton of stuff we like from Low to Six by Seven to Plumerai to Charles Atlas & are in the tradition of all the mid 1990s moody pop/slowcore/indie rock/post rock bands we came of age to.

Clang Quartet - Jihad
CD Album 2000 | Silber 013
14 tracks, 71 minutes
$12 ($14 international, $5 download (256 kbps, ~126 megs))
...this is something utterly original. Clang Quartet blends visceral sounds assembled from regular instruments like guitars, drums, & keyboards with a somewhat primordial & what’s available at the moment kind of instrumentation ranging from the electrified hand saw to the bell & finger cymbal covered hockey mask (shake face). Sources & means may vary, but Irving can look down with pride on this accomplished work.
~ The Broken Face

Clang Quartet - The Separation of Church & Hate
CD Album 2003 | Silber 023
9 tracks, 48 minutes
$12 ($14 international, $5 download (256 kbps, ~85 megs))
Irving plays his home-designed percussion megalith called "the Crutch" (a jumble of saw blade, broken cymbal, office stapler, & various other noisemakers) while hopping around in spiritual rapture and, all the while, drawing directly directly on events in the life of Christ. This could be a genuinely fascinating, groundbreaking mix of influences, and the best on The Separation of Church and Hate prove that religious conviction and the experiments of Irving's heroes (Throbbing Gristle, This Heat) can coexist with surprising fluidity.
~ Matt Pierce, Splendid

Experimental percussion, sound collage, & homemade instruments from Scotty Irving, the most extreme Christian musician around.

Dead Leaves Rising - Waking Up on the Wrong Side of No One
CD Album 2001 | PlowCity 003
$12
Two words are all I really need here: starkly gorgeous. DeRosa plays folk-influenced indie pop that owes as much to Leonard Cohen as Red House Painters but more aptly resembles the latter. DeRosa plays all the instruments on this release - except for cello on two songs - & what you get is quiet, contemplative folksy music that is stark in its crisp, pure acoustic guitar & soft drumming and gorgeous in DeRosa’s rich, emotive vocals.
~ Delusions of Adequacy

Jon (Aarktica) DeRosa’s final appearance as DLR before re-working his folk stylings into the americana of Pale Horse and Rider. This is long out-of-print & destined to be a collector’s item.

Electric Bird Noise: Fragile Hearts...Fragile Minds Electric Bird Noise - Fragile Hearts...Fragile Minds
CD 2007 | No More Stars 005

Comprised of eerie, haunting minimalism, this is one of the most original, non-conforming releases of the year.

This is an improvisational drone recording similar in sound to a lot of Glenn Branca's work.  It was a radio broadcast to promote the Elegy drone festival in honor of Michael Lenz (& a portion of the proceeds go to a scholarship fund in his honor).  The performers are Jessica Bailiff, Ryley Fogg, Jesse Beacom, Michael Anderson (Drekka, Turn Pale), Marc Gartman, Brian John Mitchell (Remora, Small Life Form), & Alan Sparhawk (Low).

Hotel Hotel - ALLHEROESAREFOREVERBOLD
CD 2006 | Lo-Bangosound 08
7 tracks, 43 minutes

The album is a moody conglomerate of emotions embodied by lurid drones and pensive stillness, swirls of sonic texture and eerie atmospherics, and entrancing, disorienting repetition interrupted by robust, vibrant crescendos.
~ Jacob Price, Delusions of Adequacy

Hotel, Hotel's first release that inspired us to work with them.

Hotel Hotel: The Sad Sea Hotel Hotel  - The Sad Sea
CD 2008 | Silber 064
8 tracks, 44 minutes
$12 ($14 international, $5 download (256 kbps, ~81 megs))
Across its 8 tracks, The Sad Sea proves to be a tangibly executed, cinemascope soundscape to an unmade film - its dulcet tones narrating a story of suffering, solitariness, anxiety & deep pensiveness but with a shimmering veneer of hope that prevails throughout. If you are after top-draw ‘real’ post-rock that shuns the immediacy of more commercially minded bands in favour of a brand of subtle progression that has melancholic & morose characteristics deeply intertwined within its rich sonic texture, then The Sad Sea is for you.
~ Kamyar Sadegzadeh, experimusic.com

Instrumental post rock inspired by a torturous ocean journey.  The sounds of hurricanes funneled through violins, guitars, drums, & effect pedals.  Feel yourself sinking into the ocean of sound.

Wilder (guitar), Justin Lemons (guitar), Patrick Patterson (violin), Francesca Riedle (violin), & Evan Caverninha (drums); Under Sea, Over Storm captures the band early on showing the atmospheric post rock they’ve been perfecting over the years.  One flowing piece divided into several song ideas, themes, & improvisations; this gives you an idea not only of their live show, but what to look forward to on their upcoming studio recordings as well.

Minimalist drone, aggressive ambient, electro-acoustic, organic, whatever you call it to describe it doesn’t change this from being a great record. These are all instrumentals & all great. I want to listen to this album while driving through Nebraska. Very soothing, built from guitars & synthesizers with very little percussion. Anyone who likes pieces better than songs should buy this.

If Thousands - i have nothing

Slow, sorrowful, and lush dronescapes that unfold calmly and thoughtfully. CD Album 2003 | Silber 024
9 tracks, 59 minutes
$12 ($14 international, $5 download (256 kbps, ~107 megs))
The ultimate test of a drone record is if it stands up to both passive and active listening. If I can find the record as enthralling when I listen to it at work as it is when I drift off to sleep, then that's some good drone. Lullaby meets both of those criteria, and then some.
~ Jason Morehead, Opuszine

If Thousands present a beautiful blanket of sound recorded as a soundtrack for falling asleep. Quite beautiful and soothing. Fans of Godspeed You Black Emperor and Stars of the lid should love this one.

Moodring is centered around Rollerball's Monte Allen & Mae Starr.  While it’s easy to hear that Moodring is awesome, other words to describe them are a bit harder to come by.  The presence of piano & clarinet give a free post-jazz flavor.  Mae Starr’s ghostly vocals sound like the lounge music on a sinking ship.  The deep groove jams sink in to form some kind of modern American gamelan sound.  The music is so raw & infectious & immediate that it feels more proto-everything than post-anything.  So just soak it in & sink into the doom.

Northern Valentine is husband & wife Robert & Amy Brown along with friends who join them from time to time. They have been writing & recording music since 1997 & have released material previously on acclaimed label Gears of Sand as well as on their own label Baresound.  We are glad to have them added to the Silber roster. Throughout this whole disc, the magic of the place where it was recorded can be felt and heard. A very special recording, it is both ancient and modern. This record is a bridge between the “Real” world and the magic one. In this place and on this record they co-exist beautifully.

Origami Arktika - Vardøgr
CD Album 2002 | Silber 021
7 tracks, 41 minutes
$12 ($14 international, $5 download (256 kbps, ~75 megs))
The compositions on the curiously titled Vardøgr are accidental, strange, eerie, sparse, and definitely not what the average person would consider music to be. We're always up for a challenge... and we openly embrace the idea of noise and sound presented as music. Accordingly, we find this album to be perplexing and genuine...

Peter Aldrich - Less Visionary Than Expected
CD-R Album 2001 | Silber 016
14 tracks, 49 minutes
$8 ($10 international, $5 download (256 kbps, ~85 megs))
Clouds of fuzzed guitar vapor forms into shapes & spaces. Spin and circle one another like little planets like sonic dust motes blow around the room. Often brings to mind Roy Montgomery, but Aldrich is not so metaphysical as Roy; he’s more nervous, noisy, less formulaic, & far too tense to trance-out & he’s a bit more crazy maybe...
~ Dream Magazine

Limited to 200 signed and numbered copies, this release compiles five years of obscure & hard to locate material. This is a personal & understated collection trancey post-garage guitar works. Stripped down & laced with something you've yet to try, this is one of the more interesting excursions into neo-psychedelia out there. Think Alastair Galbraith playing amongst the innards of a cavern while you climb the mountain trying to find a way inside.

Remora - Amerse

The first Remora release to get much attention.  Our favorite review of it is:
This American band/artist as the information is minimal  reflect this in the music which is appropriately minimal & experimental.  Waves of distortion fed through reverb effects drone through the ether like a passing tank.  These other worldly murmurs are in stark contrast to the sub Stooges riffs that are processed out of all recognition on some occasions.  Structured tracks with some vocals are the shade to the more chaotic soundscapes, the pitch darkness.  A mixture of a psychedelic feel set against a more extreme sound manipulation, like Pink Floyd meets Merzbow.

Simple electric/acoustic guitar strumming with dark lyrics about love & loss. As cheesy as "lyrics about love and loss" sounds, this album works. From droning instrumental tracks to thick acoustic numbers, this album is experimental and unique enough to be a good/refreshing listen.

At the request of Bryce Clayton Eiman, Remora prepared a piece for the Guitar Antiheroes 919 Noise Showcase on May 12, 2009. The showcase had performers pushing the idea of how to approach the guitar as an instrument. For Remora’s performance to push the sound to the next level from a standard Remora show (which is already often filled with guitar noise), Brian John Mitchell (Remora) boosted the sound to the next level by using five guitars, a bass, & four amplifiers instead of the standard single guitar & amp. The additional guitars were staged around the main amplifier to act as drone instruments. Probably the loudest Remora show ever (reports are it was heard clearly a block away) & often on the cusp of losing control of the wave of sound, the piece ended with Mitchell nearly throwing up from the volume exposure. Still the music somehow ends up as soothing as it is menacing.

Remora - Some Past's Future
CD Album 2001 | Silber 018
21 tracks, 62 minutes
$12 ($14 international, $5 download (256 kbps, ~107 megs))
Beginning with the heady drone of "10,004," Some Past's Future goes off in all directions foreign and unknown. We definitely prefer the experimental instrumentals to the vocal tracks with recognizable lyrics. Strange and disjointed, this album is definitely NOT for everyone...
~ babysue

Some Past's Future combines all the elements of Remora from apocalyptic post-punk to beautiful noise to minimalist atmospheric. Songs about the future, the past, love, and working class dreams. Aggression tempered with guilt. The tonal chaos within each piece is hopeful and revealing. This is the soundtrack for apocryphal dreams and late night car rides.

Remora - songs i sing Remora - songs i sing
CD EP 2007 | North Pole 005
13 tracks, 16 minutes, plus 1 video
$9
He sings sometimes in a Townes Van Zandt-style troubadour’s voice (“I Called Your Mom”), sometimes the same way he sings Remora’s usual song-drones, sometimes demonic (“Heartworms”), and sometimes in a wicked-fast, odd way (the shortest songs, generally). All in all, this album comes off like a joke/experiment, but it’s also hard to shake, resembling as it does the ghosts of voices past, strung together as one. Think of exorcisms, of spirits singing through people, but also those goofy little ditties we all sing to our loved ones, in the moment.
~ Dave Heaton, erasing clouds

Well, here is a release you thought would never exist. For those of you who have not seen Remora live in the past two years (or gotten personal phone messages), this side of Remora is completely unknown.  On this release Remora goes a cappella in the songs from the live show done while tuning guitar.  Sometimes comedic, sometimes spiritual, & occasionally poignant.  This was predominantly recorded by Jessica Bailiff during Remora’s 2006 spring tour & includes covers of “We Will Fall” (The Stooges), “Heartworms” (Coil), “Sores” (Rollerball), & a passage from Job.  Beautiful hand letter-pressed artwork by Shane Sauers & a video for “Sores” also by Mister Sauers.  If Devo 2.0 was the weirdest thing in your collection, this is for you!

Syncretism is where it's at, and Bathing Music is deliciously dialectic. Any band which manages to recall Tom Waits, the Sea and Cake, Berthold Brecht and Kurt Weill, Henryk Gorecki, Elliot Sharp, Red House Painters, Camper van Beethoven, Naked City, Medicine, Bauhaus, Ornette Coleman, Rachel's, Miranda Sex Garden, and the UCLA Bruin Marching Band over the span of 42 minutes is worthy of note. And bands that can take a mix like that and make it seem inevitable is formidable, indeed.

When was the last time you listened to something experimental, enjoyed it, & understood it? I'm usually left to contemplate what just abused my eardrums, with little consideration for whether the music actually meant something. Unlike many other experimental albums, Behind the Barber won't bore you with too much drone or leave you cringing in anticipation of your next aural flogging; Rollerball has decisive control over its music and presents it in an interesting way. They'll lull you into a state of relaxation, but inject appropriate doses of musical excitement along the way. It's good to hear them returning to form after almost dropping off the map.

I haven't yet decided if Rollerball's Einäugige Kirsche ("one-eyed cherry") is sexy in any conventional sense of the term. It's noisy as hell, I know that: junkheap jazz marked by skronking horns and clattering percussion. Whoever you could get onto the kitchen floor with this dark beauty has mental problems. But don't let it stop you from trying.

This album is staggering in its creativity even though it's probably the most pop-focused of Rollerball's releases. They bring the funk influence which has always been lurking, closer to the fore quite tastefully, with propulsive drums and full-bodied bass inspiring movement, but the highlight of their music is definitely the super-catchy lyrics and melodies.
~ Steve Smith, Brainwashed

Real Hair, Rollerball's ninth full-length release, follows a more direct path than any of the band's previous albums. By zeroing in on actual songs Rollerball captures the essence of their live sound more here than on any previous release.

One cannot tell if they resemble the pop band that got turned onto drugs midway through the sessions, or the avant-noise band that got turned on to hooks. Both bands reveal their artistry & improvisational skill on Torture Music Records / Bar La Meurte release my first cowboy showing that there are no boundries in music. Rollerball makes use of their recorded styles as well as their great ability play live improv performances. Ovo presents a strong case for being the new superstars of Italian avant noise. Ovo shatters all concepts of restrained conventional music. Stephania’s vocal talent is one to recognized, emotionally scorned lyrics make your spine shiver. Bruno Dorella keeps the madness moving with a mastery of guitar, drum, & sample work. Great for fans of modern dark jazz-noise.

When the time came to make a soundtrack to the Lost Kisses cartoons, Small Life Form’s brand of electro acoustics & aggressive ambient seemed like a great fit for the stories. The music is loop driven & sometimes barely noticed & at other times feels like a laser beam straight to the brain threatening to completely wash it clean. The soundtrack to an emotional acid trip - not necessarily positive or negative or menacing or soothing, but very physically present.
The instruments used are the standards of the recent live Small Life Form shows including copper pipe, triangles, melodica, pitch pipe, harmonica, microphone feedback, & voice all washed & sculpted with distortion, reverb, & delay.
Some of the pieces are shorter or longer than on the Lost Kisses DVD (adjusted for the length of the cartoons) & also included are the pieces for the menu pages that were eventually cut from the release.

$12 ($14 international, $5 download (256kbps, ~110 megs))
Though it's been hinted at in the past, evidently the timing was right for Mike VanPortfleet of Lycia to release a solo album. This piece is heavily atmospheric and might be a bit disorienting if you go into it expecting to hear A Day In The Stark Corner, which this album is NOT. What this album is, in fact, is brilliant and beautiful. Heavy ambient loops building up atmosphere and tension through the first four tracks. I promise you this, when you reach track 5 "Stellar Buckshot Awaits", you will find yourself in familiar territory. The guitar sound that makes him so recognizeable, and that brilliant voice, are waiting for you. I nearly leapt for joy to hear his brilliant, whispy voice calling from the horizon line. Misery and mastery become one in this incredible album.
~ David Poseidon, Gothic Beauty

Mike VanPortfleet's post-Lycia debut is an ambient album built from the ground up with loop sources & effects into shimmering walls & minimalist soundscapes.  Crystalline harmonic washes resonating from the cold depths of mind & matter.  Glacial rhythms & serenity through fathoms of uncharted seas.  If Brian Eno collaborated with Justin Broadrick it might sound like this.  Majestic & heart breaking.

Lo-fi acoustic shoegazer?  Vlor's two cassette releases combined together.  Lavished was recorded in a raquetball room & Luxate was recorded in Brian's Bedroom. Here's a review of Luxate:
Vlor are a duo consisting of Remora's Brian John Mitchell on guitar & Russell Halasz on guitar & bass. Though they are quite experimental at times, Vlor never stray from their keen pop sensibilities on this excellent cassette release. Though very lo-fi -- most of the songs here were recorded in one take using a hand held recorder -- it's not hard to find the passion in these dark, enchanting instrumentals. Fans of Flying Saucer Attack, especially the early stuff, would probably dig Luxate.

CD 2009 | Silber 075
16 tracks, 50 minutes
$12 ($14 international, $5 download (256kbps, ~83 megs))
Six-Winged is a terrific album that flits from style to style, but manages to hang together perfectly. Even the book ending tracks, ostensibly two versions of the same thing, sound nothing like each other. The first a delicate, fragile whisper of a song, the second straying into Galaxie 500 territory. It shows that surprise and variety needn’t be at the expense of consistency and flow.
~ Music Musing & Miscellany

The Silber super group returns this time featuring Brian John Mitchell (Remora/Small Life Form), Jon DeRosa (Aarktica), Brian McKenzie (Electric Bird Noise), Martin Newman (Plumerai/Goddakk), Michael Wood (Something About Vampires And Sluts), Jessica Bailiff, Annelies Monsere, Jim DeJong (Infant Cycle), Michael Walton (mwvm), Paolo Messere (6 P.M.), & more.  Sounds go from indie pop to punk rock to drone ambient.

Okay, I know what you're thinking, "What's a glam punk band doing on Silber?"  Well, when good friends make good music, you feel a need to make it heard.  Over the top & hyper-sexualized rock & roll brought back to life &, much like Frankenstein's Monster, is stronger & more intense than before it died.

In all, this disc is so worth picking up, words cannot describe it. In a world where gothic compilations are structured around the same six to eight bands with a similar derivative sound, a compilation like this that showcases what innovations can be done with this style of music is so much needed. If you like darkwave, go get this. It’s worth it.

Here at Silber, mothers have always had a special place in our heart.  So we’re happy to finally get a compilation together to pay a little bit of the tribute mothers are so dearly due.
Everyone has a different style of song to show their love from heavy metal (Wrong Brothers) to post-rock (Glissade, Electric Bird Noise) to noise (Moral Crayfish) to simply acoustic guitar (Remora).  While most went the instrumental route, the songs with vocals by Plumerai & Miss Massive Snowflake show the tongue-in-cheek comedy that we all use to tell our moms we love them.

Complete artist roster:
Wrong Brothers, Remora, Glissade, Blessed Child Opera, Plumerai, Moral Crayfish, Lauri des Marais, Century of Aeroplanes, Electric Bird Noise, Miss Massive Snowflake, Origami Galaktika

...this is perhaps the perfect Christmas album as the two CD collection encompasses all moods of the season and while some people wake up to nice presents and a loving family some will wake up to terminal illness and bereavement. It's nice to see an album cover those two extremes of moods via music. I envy those who live in the great open spaces of Canada and the Pacific North West, for if I did I would have the perfect album to drive to while viewing its halcyon winter landscape.

So it has been a little while since something in our free comp series has gotten out of our control. We were like, “Hey, let’s do a Halloween comp & do an open call for entries!” So we ended up with thirty tracks & over two hours of music. Also just a little too short in time to manufacture compact discs. So that’s why this time there are no physical copies at all. Just available on this thing called the internet.

Complete artist roster:

What’s there to say about this compilation? Old friends & new friends doing mainly original compositions & mainly instrumental pieces. An artist roster of Aarktica, Small Cities, Charles Atlas, Andrew Weathers, This Quiet Army, Electric Bird Noise, Lullabier, Bryce Eiman, Polar400, Miss Massive Snowflake, Gorgons, Origami Galaktika, Remora, Lozninger, Fornever, Moodring, Subscape Annex, Carta, Small Life Form, Zanzibar Snails, Moral Crayfish, Northern Valentine, Medit, & Yellow 6. So a solid representation from the Silber roster, the 919Noise scene, all our old friends, & some folks we’ve just met. I hope you dig it all & maybe find a new favorite band or two. Personally I’m pretty pleased at how it simultaneously goes all over the musical map & remains cohesive. Noise, beats, slowcore, found sounds, guitar walls, & occasionally things that could pass for rock & roll.
